give it some time and before you know it Windows 8 will be here before you finish installing 7

It's a little late in the game for that...but I'm actually thinking about it for my next machine. Compared to the one I have at home (think Chevrolet Malibu in quality), even the iMac I use at work is a Porsche.

we are in the same boat, I am used to XP and have my photoshop loaded on my home pc. My work just gave me a macbook to use with a pretty current OS and I am very, very impressed. I like your auto analogy! the mac just seems more like a well-built photo tool, when the pc is more like a plastic chainsaw in a child's toy tool set.

Your analogy works well, too. I've noticed quite often that Macs seem better for imaging in general. We use them at work with MacDraft, and I have Photoshop CS3 on mine. While my Dell XPS is capable of running CS3, the Vista OS is such a RAM hog that it locks up if I try to do anything else at the same time. Therefore, the desktop only has Photoshop 7 (I love PS7, but there are some very nifty tools I'm missing out on with CS3). So yes...when I have to get another desktop and retire mine, it will most likely be a Mac.
